A Slot Mods built Laguna Seca replica slot car track is coming to the Pebble Beach Concours

If you found your way here, chances are that you love slot cars and probably spend hours trying to get the absolute perfect lap around the track. Now there are tracks and there are tracks… But if you’re going to Pebble Beach for the Concours D’Elegance, you’ll have your chance to try you hand at this awesome Laguna Seca replica track in the Mercedes-AMG lounge. We played a small part, Slot Mods sourced over 90 Mercedes slot cars from Electric Dreams.

Our friends over at Slot Mods have made a Laguna Seca replica that’s huge, a full 25-by-25 feet and 105 feet long, to be exact ( <– yes, that says 125 feet!). Best part? Anybody is welcome to try the replica version of the famous track

As you’ve seen in other posts, Slot Mods makes very expensive and gorgeous slot car tracks; this might be the best yet – Laguna Seca laid out on Pebble Beach’s 18th fairway. If you want one of your own, you can find Slot Mods here.

Last Years Concours Best in Show

We don’t have any video or images of the Slot Mods track, but to get an idea of what you’re in for, check out the beautiful detain of this track.

Slot Mods Martin Raceway

Slot Mods USA tracks have been featured in numerous publications and at events such as the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and the Los Angeles auto show.

“Slot Mods USA is the latest in analog racing,” says owner David Beattie. “It’s about bringing people together to race and have fun. Our goal is to deliver works of art and create a memorable racing experience for every single racer that runs our tracks.”

Speaking of slot car tracks, we have a huge selection of Slot Car Tracks in our shop.

What Fun We Had!

Greystone Concourse d’Elegance 2014

The 2014 Greystone Concours d’Elegance took place at the historic Greystone  Mansion in Beverly Hills on Sunday, May 4. This year celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Porsche Speedster and well as the 50th anniversary of the Ford Mustang.

The car show included  an awards ceremony and a fashion show. Food, drinks, and various auto  exhibits were present throughout the mansion grounds. The Greystone Mansion was also open for people to see its many rooms and history of the Doheny family who once lived there.

We had a great time introducing slot cars and slot car racing to some and rekindling the love affair for others. We had 100′s of cars on display and a great track set up for racers of all ages.

It was a great day all around!

Cartrix 0970 Dan Gurney #30 Porsche 804, 1962 France GP

Porsche’s brief time as a factory entrant in F1 culminated in its only race-winning car: the 1962 Porsche 804.

At the 1962 French Grand Prix Dan Gurney qualified sixth and inherited the lead after Graham Hill and Jim Clark suffered technical problems. He finished a full lap ahead of Tony Maggs’ Cooper for his first Grand Prix triumph and Porsche’s only world championship win.

Yet shortly after Dan Gurney’s triumph in the 1962 French Grand Prix, the team cancelled its F1 programme, and has never returned to the sport as a full constructor.
