Scalextric C3001 1970 Camaro, Warren Agor (C)

1/32 scale slot car. Ready to run on all 1/32 scale non-digital slot car tracks. Digital plug ready. Accepts C8515 plug-in digital chip. 1970 Camaro #13, as driven by Warren Agor. This car is believed to be the third Chaparral factory team car that Chevrolet gave Jim Hall to build into a race car.

After leaving the Penske Racing team in 1968, Warren Agor formed Agor Racing Enterprises. As a race car owner, builder, and driver he set many track records and won numerous SCCA and IMSA races including the 25th Trans-Am race victory for the Chevrolet Camaro at Sanair International raceway in Canada (the only race track in the world with a name that sounds like the naming rights have been bought by a garbage collection company or a room deodorizer manufacturer). Agor, of Rochester, New York, bought the car from Marshall Robbins in late 1971. He changed the color to Hugger Orange and the number to 13. Hoselton Chevrolet sponsored the car for the three years that Agor drove it. At the time of his retirement from racing in 1973, he had accumulated more points than any then-active professional driver participating in the Trans-Am series. Agor now runs a company providing mobility solutions for the disabled.

Best Finishes for Warren Agor
1972 Lime Rock, 2nd: Bryar, 3rd: Mid-Ohio, 3rd
1973 Daytona, 2nd: Sanair, 1st: Road America, 2nd Fastest Trans-Am lap record of 2.25, 99 mph, which was held into the ‘80’s

The third and fourth cars in the Limited Edition Scalextric 60th Anniversary series are here. They only made a few, so order yours now.

Scalextric C3828A 60th Anniversary no. 3-1980s, Audi Sport quattro S1 E2 Limited Ed.

Scalextric 60th Anniversary Collection – 1980s, Audi Sport quattro S1 E2 Limited Edition First issued in 1984 the original Scalextric Audi Quattro proved to be as big a hit on the Scalextric tracks of the nation as the original had been screaming through Scandinavian forests. The 1980s saw Scalextric move into ever more inventive areas, with items such as ‘Blowout!’ and Racing Rigs bringing new excitement to the brand. Group B rally cars featured heavily as Ayrton Senna made his Scalextric debut towards the end of the decade in a JPS Lotus, alongside Mansell in a Williams.

The Audi Sport quattro S1 E2 itself was introduced at the end of the 1985 as an update to the Audi Sport quattro; with the car sporting an inline turbo charged 5-cylinder engine. In addition to the improved power output, an aggressive aerodynamic kit was added that featured very distinctive wings and spoilers to the front and rear of the car to increase downforce. The S1 E2 did find some success with Walter Röhrl and Christian Geistdörfer winning the 1985 San Remo Rally, but with the Group B era coming to an end in 1986 after a series of tragic incidents, the quattro was consigned first to the Rallycross tracks, and then the history books.

Scalextric C3829A 60th Anniversary Collection no.4-1990s, BMW E30 M3 Limited Ed.

Scalextric C3829A 60th Anniversary Collection – 1990s, BMW E30 M3 Limited Edition

As Scalextric moved into the 1990s it followed another shift in motorsport. Throughout the 1980s rallying and Group B had dominated the airwaves and press, but as that declined, touring car racing, most notably Super Touring, took its place. As the BTCC, DTM and other national series gained in popularity, Scalextric began producing these cars.

One manufacturer above others dominated this form of motorsport, BMW. Although production of the BMW M3 E30 started in the ‘80s it saw considerable success in the early ‘90s, winning the BTCC title in 1990 and 1991, along with numerous DTM, Italia Superturismo Championships and Australian races. It also enjoyed considerable success in the rally category.

As the decade moved on, the BMW M3 E30 was to be found racing in lesser series and is even now a common club racing saloon car; as well as being an icon all other performance saloons aspire to. Other new items introduced in the ‘90s by Scalextric were the horse racing sets, as well as various cars driven by the greats of the era: Senna, Schumacher and Hill, all immortalised by Scalextric. With design moving to CAD rather than pattern making and 2D drawing, Scalextric was rapidly accelerating towards the 21st century.

Four more slot cars from the 2017 Scalextric line are here now, including the cartoon deco VW Campervan.

Scalextric C3891 Volkswagen Campervan

To ferry parts across the massive VW factory, stripped down Beetles were turned into “transporters”. Ben Pon, a Dutch VW importer, thought this was a great idea and in 1947 sketched his idea of a Beetle based van. Two years later it was launched at the Geneva Motor Show as the modern equivalent to the horse and cart.

Scalextric C3877 McLaren P1, Grey

The McLaren P1 is a limited production plug-in hybrid sports car by British manufacturer McLaren Automotive. The concept car debuted at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. Deliveries to retail customers began in the UK in October 2013. The entire P1 production of 375 units was sold out by November 2013. The production run ended in December 2015. It is considered to be the long-awaited successor to the McLaren F1, utilizing hybrid power and Formula 1 technology. It does not have the same three seat layout as its predecessor. The design of the headlights is very similar to the shape of the McLaren logo. Just like the McLaren F1 road car of 1992, the McLaren P1 is a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive design that uses a carbon fibre monocoque and roof structure safety cage concept called MonoCage, which is a development of the MonoCell used in the current MP4-12C and MP4-12C Spider upgrade that came out in early 2012.

All six of the Gulf Team mechanics and driver Jackie Ickx are here to populate your pit scenes. Each is hand-painted cast resin.

FLM132020 Jacky Ickx.

There is no more famous endurance racing driver than Jacky Ickx. With 6 LeMans victories he is a legendary figure in motorsports history. He is modeled here as he looked when he won his first LeMans victory in 1969. Yes, we know that’s not the correct car for the occasion and yes, we know his name is properly spelled “Jacky”, not “Jackie”, and so does LMM. He was wearing a driving unifom on which the name had been embriodered incorrectly… so don’t e-mail us.

Scalextric has finalized the paint scheme on the seventh (and final) car in their 60th anniversary series. You’ll want them all (the C3826A E-Type Jaguar and C3827A Lancia Stratos are also coming this fall) and this 250F Maserati is likely to be the most desirable because it is (by chance) painted in the official United States of America blue on white racing colors. It is due in October so you can pre-order it now.

Scalextric C3825A 60th Anniversary Collection – 1950s, Maserati 250F Limited Edition—PRE-ORDER NOW

Scalextric 60th Anniversary Collection – 1950s, Maserati 250F Limited Edition

Launched in 1957, Scalextric was the brain child of Bertram ‘Fred’ Francis, the talented inventor behind a range of mechanical tin toys. The first Scalextric cars were tin too and powered by a small electric motor, instead of the more common clockwork cars of the time. This new toy took off and by 1958 Francis had sold his idea to Tri-ang, who looked to invest. Tri-ang produced newer cars in plastic and the range of vehicles offered started to expand.

The very first car released by Scalextric in 1957 was the Maserati 250F, then the car to have in Grand Prix racing with Juan Manuel Fangio scoring his legendary final win in one at the 1957 German Grand Prix. In this race he overcome a 48 second deficit in just 22 laps and broke the lap record 10 times in one race. The very first Scalextric set featured two of these cars and perfectly captured both the glamour and beauty of motor racing cars of the period. The 250F was phased out of F1 racing shortly afterwards, but remains one of the most iconic and beautiful F1 cars of all time, a shining testament to the bravery of the early F1 World Championship competitors.

New Cars Coming Soon

The next four Limited Edition Scalextric 60th Anniversary cars have been announced. They will only make a few, so pre-order yours now.

Scalextric C3828A 60th Anniversary – 1980s, Audi Sport quattro S1 E2 Limited Edition—PRE-ORDER NOW!

Scalextric 60th Anniversary Collection – 1980s, Audi Sport quattro S1 E2 Limited Edition

First issued in 1984 the original Scalextric Audi Quattro proved to be as big a hit on the Scalextric tracks of the nation as the original had been screaming through Scandinavian forests.

Scalextric C3829A 60th Anniversary Collection – 1990s, BMW E30 M3 Limited Edition—PRE-ORDER NOW!

Scalextric C3827A 60th Anniversary Collection – 1970s, Lancia Stratos Limited Edition—PRE-ORDER NOW!

Scalextric C3827A 60th Anniversary Collection – 1970s, Lancia Stratos Limited Edition

The 1970s saw Scalextric continue to follow the trends of worldwide motorsport with a string of successful cars. F1 World Champions were featured with JPS Lotus cars and a range of Tyrells, as well as the outlandish 6 wheeled P34 Tyrell and March 2-4-0. Lauda’s Ferrari also made an appearance as well as the Brabham BT49. Away from F1 the wild Group 5 era of sports car racing was covered with the BMW CSL as well as Porsche’s whale tailed 911. British classics such as the Triumph TR7 and Mini Clubman also featured in the Scalextric range.

One car not covered by Scalextric in the 1970s, but a poster child of the decade, was the Lancia Stratos HF, widely and more simply known as the Lancia Stratos. The HF stands for High Fidelity and the car proved to be a very successful machine, winning the World Rally Championship in 1974, 1975 and 1976. Overall it took 18 WRC victories between 1974 and 1981 with Sandro Munari taking 7 of them. Other notable winners in the Stratos are Björn Waldegård, Bernard DarNiche and Markku Alén. The wedge shape of the Stratos is classic 1970s, with its mid-mounted Ferrari sourced V6 giving the car a large amount of power to put through its short chassis, which also gave the Stratos some nimble handling as well.

Scalextric C3826A 60th Anniversary Collection – 1960s, Jaguar E-type Limited Edition—PRE-ORDER NOW

Scalextric C3826A 60th Anniversary Collection – 1960s, Jaguar E-type Limited Edition

Despite being debuted in the 1950s, it was the 60s that really saw Scalextric come to prominence as one of the best known toys across the globe. With countless new cars, from the Ferrari 250SWB and Jaguar E-type, right down to Go-Karts and the humble Mini; Scalextric had a car for everyone to race at home. Countless accessory buildings and track pieces were added and the range blossomed, with superstars like the Beatles even having a go! But the celebrity endorsements were not limited to pop stars, Jim Clark, Graham Hill and Various other racing drivers of the era all had their own Scalextric sets.

No other car symbolises the swinging sixties quite like the Jaguar E-type, manufactured by Jaguar Cars Ltd between 1961 and 1975 its combination of beauty, high performance and competitive pricing established the marque as an icon of 1960s motoring. On its release Enzo Ferrari called it “The most beautiful car ever made”, the Lightweight was also very successful on track and in smaller races with Graham Hill and Roy Salvadori seeing the top step of the podium in E-types. In Australia Bob Jane won the 1963 Australian GT Championship in an E-type Lightweight and even today it continues to be a force to be reckoned with in classic GT racing around the world.

MCR94 Model Car Racing Magazine, July/August 2017 (C)

There are several articles and “Tech Tips” on how to assemble a replica of 1954 Le Mans-winning Ferrari 75 Plus from a cast-resin kit, how to open holes in sheet brass to build your own brass chassis and step-by-step installation tips for converting Scalextric Formula 1 cars from analog to Digital. Slot It SICA35D Alfa Romeo 155 V6 T1 ‘Castrol’ n.26—PRE-ORDER NOW!

The Alfa Romeo 155 V6 TI is a racing car built to race in the DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft) series in 1993. At that time the German Touring Car Championship was the peak of technology for touring car racing, and it reserved for cars of Class 1 (first division or D1). The rules mandated cars with an engine displacement of 2.5 liters and 6 cylinders at most, derived from approved models and produced in no less than 25,000 units. The rules allowed deep changes to the car, provided that the external lines were maintained.

When Alfa Romeo introduced its 420 bhp, four-wheel drive 155, the more conventional rear-wheel drive Mercedes 190 couldn’t matched Alfa’s performance. In 1993, the Italian car dominated the category, winning 12 races out of 20 with its the two factory drivers, thus winning both drivers and constructors titles. To date, the Alfa Romeo 155 is the only non-German car to have won a DTM championship.

We just received eight of the 2017 Scalextric cars including the second Trans-Am Javelin in 1972 deco and the second 60th Anniversary car, the Bentley GT3, so order yours while they last.

Scalextric C3831A Anniversary Collection Car No.1 – 2010s, Bentley Continental GT3

As Scalextric entered the second decade of the 21st century it has continued to bring technological advances to the slot racing arena. Following Digital has come ARC; a race management system that allows the user to wirelessly manage all elements of the ‘Scalextric race experience’ using Bluetooth technology via a tablet or smart device. ARC seamlessly merges the excitement of real-time slot racing, with the thrill of on screen gameplay.

The Bentley Continental GT3 is just one of many GT3 race cars now offered by Scalextric. Making its competitive debut at the 2013 Gulf 12 Hours in Abu Dhabi on 13th December 2013, many scoffed that a car the size of the Continental would be successful but it has proved to bean amazing car, powerful and well handling it is still one of the best cars in its class. The Abu Dhabi race would mark Bentleys return to motorsport ten years after its dominant win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2003 and as of now the car continues to win in the Blancpain GT sprint and Endurance series, British GT, GT Cup and on many Scalextric layouts across the world.

This is the first car in the 60th Anniveary series. The second car is Scalextric C3830A 60th Anniversary Collection Car no.2- 2000s, Aston Martin DBR9 Limited Edition

MRRC MC11081 Porsche 911 #4, silver (C)

A basic 911 as raced in countless SCCA amateur races and the U2.5 division of the TransAm in many different liveries.

Technical specification includes Sebring chassis (Inline configuration), Universal guide, SportFix braids, 21k rpm SlimLine motor, ClipFit chassis magnet (can be moved to 2 alternative positions or removed), detailed wheels and tires, fully detailed body and interior including painted driver figure.

This car uses the MRRC/Monogram Sebring chassis. The Sebring chassis is an excellent universal 1/32 scale chassis for use with body kits and for kitbashig and scratchbuilding projects. It can be set up to handle well in both magnet and non-magnet racing. It has an adjustable wheelbase and is compact enough to fit almost any sports car, GT, or sedan body and to allow the use of wide wheels ad tires within even a relatively modest body width.

MRRC and Monogram cars using the Sebring chassis come with a variety of different wheels and tires. All of them use the same “slimline” motor which provides more than enough power for most home and club racing. They are ideal “donor cars” to provide a complete running chassis for the body of your choice at a cost often lower than purchasing the needed components separately.
