Carrera 30855 Porsche 935/78 Moby Dick DRM Norisring 1981 D132—PRE-ORDER NOW!

The Porsche 935/78 was first manufactured in 1978. Alongside the various technical adaptations, this car was distinguished by its considerable dimensions. It’s no surprise the Porsche was given the nickname “Moby Dick” by the works mechanics, after the white sperm whale in the novel by Herman Melville. This version of the Porsche 935/78 in the unmistakeable paintjob of the Italian manufacturers of steering wheels and rims, “Momo”, proved just what extraordinary feats it was capable of at the Norisring race in 1981. The 80s livery achieved cult status and, although it was adapted over the years, the yellow writing on a red background was a permanent feature. The Porsche 935/78 “Moby Dick” DRM Norisring 1981 is equipped with headlights, rear and brake lights, and turns heads with its faithful reproduction of original details. The Carrera car can be individually coded, it’s digitally controllable and guarantees genuine racing thrills!

The “Die Cast Hall of Fame” group has recognized slot cars as a viable part of the model car hobby. They recently expanded their group beyond Hot Wheels and Exoto-size die-cast to include slot cars and plastic model kits. The new group is called “Model Car Hall of Fame”. To further that concept the owner of Electric Dreams, Scott Bader, has been brought in to the selection committee. It is a more significant change that it might seem because slot cars are the only model cars in the group that actually run!

A Bigger Mission, a new name – Slot Cars, Model Kits and Scott Bader joining the Selection Committee

FROM THE MODEL CAR HALL OF FAME – At the Hall of Fame, we’re revving higher and higher, and it’s time to upshift. We’ve been steadily adding scales, classes and dozens of new inductees, becoming one of the biggest communities of model car enthusiasts in the world. To best reflect this new status, we’re excited to announce our transition from the Diecast Hall of Fame into the Model Car Hall of Fame, now also covering Model Kits and Slot Cars.

This is the set that more of our customers prefer than any other. They are no longer being produced but we have a few in stock at a special low price.

Scalextric C1319T Continental Sports Cars (C)

The perfect introduction to the exciting world of 1:32 scale slot racing. The LMP and Pro GT cars are tough enough for full impact racing. Build four different layouts with the track supplied. This set includes a lap counter for even more excitement.

Each hand controller has a two-position selector switch which allows the driver to choose slow or fast speed settings to reflect the driver’s experience. A sheet of decals is supplied with each car so that the car can be decorated with racing graphics.

Upgrade the Scalextric C1319T Continental Sports Cars set (above) or bring your own Scalextric track up to Digital with this C7042DC Upgrade Package. This incredible Powerbase allows you to race either Scalextric Digital or, by just pressing a button (and taping the lane changer flaps shut), to race two of any brand of analog car. The C7042DC “package” includes everything to upgrade your track—the Digital Plugs to convert the cars must be purchased separately. Save $80.00 on this package deal.

Scalextric C7042DC Digital 6-car conversion package

An ‘open-source’ output connection enables the enthusiast to connect the six car power base to a computer for additional functionality.

This new Powerbase can be used in Analogue or Digital power modes. This great feature allows the Powerbase to be used with standard 2-lane Scalextric circuits, using two cars only, or with Scalextric Digital layouts for 1-to-6 car action. All features are available in either mode.

Now the best of both worlds is offered – an all-in-one race control system for Analogue and Digital racing.

Requires the 15V Power Supply sold separately (P9303) and two Scalextric Digital throttles (C7002)—also sold separately). You will also want one or more C7036 Lane Changers. If you upgrading an existing Scalextric Digital track you will need the C7042 and the P9303 Power Supply but you can use your Scalextric Digital throttles (analog throttles will not operate the system).

NOTE: If you want a complete Scalextric Digital track conversion you can purchase the C7042DC (note the “DC” on the part number and the special price) Package that includes the C7042, P9303 Power Supply, two C7002 throttles, PLUS one C7036 Lane Changer.

The Digital Plugs to convert the cars must also be purchased separately—each car will require its own plug. Most Scalextric cars are Digital Plug Ready so a number C8515 Easyfit Digital Plug (for most cars) or C8516 Easyfit Digital Plug (for Scalextric Formula 1 cars) is a one-screw unplug/plug-in installation. For other brands the C7005 Digital Chip can be installed but the wire connections must be soldered. All three Digital Plugs (chips) also allow the car run on any brand of analog track (but not on other brands of digital).

You can race one of the fastest and most highly-detailed 1/32 scale Slot.it cars that is available at a very special price for one week. No dealers, One to a customer.

Slot It SICA13C Jaguar XJR12, #35, LeMans 1991.

Motor: FC130.

Easy, low-cost performance increase for Slot It GTP/Gp. C cars racing with magnets on plastic track…

Install SIPT06 19x10mm silicone slicks (a pair of these comes as extra tires with most of these cars) and an SICN07 racing magnet. The tires slip onto the rear wheels and the magnet snaps into the chassis in place of the original magnet. The Jaguar XJR12 is a sport-prototype racing car, born in 1990 to replace the XJR9.

This full-size car featured a carbon fiber monocoque chassis. The engine was a V12 engine with two valves per cylinder. In 1990, displacement was 6 liters for the IMSA version and 7 liters in the Group C configuration; these values were increased in 1991, becoming 6.5 liters for the American version and 7.4 for the European one, whose weight was respectively 930 and 1000 kg. The XJR12 was employed by Tom Walkinshaw Racing in particular for the long distance races, such as Daytona, Sebring and Le Mans, as this car was very reliable and regular in race trim.

The car was a superb racer: in 1990, it finished 1st and 2nd in the Daytona and Le Mans 24 Hours races, and in 3rd place at Sebring. Later on, it finished in 2nd, 3rd and 4th place at Le Mans in 1991, and in 2nd at Daytona in 1992. Car #35, driven by Jones, Boesel, Feré finished 2nd at the 24h of Le Mans in 1991.

Upgrade the Scalextric C1362T American Classics Set (above) or bring your own Scalextric track up to Digital with to this C7042DC Upgrade Package. This incredible Powerbase allows you race either Scalextric Digital or by just pressing a button (and taping the lane changer flaps shut) to race two of any brand of analog car.

NOTES:

  • If you want a complete Scalextric Digital track conversion you can purchase the C7042DC (note the “DC” on the part number and the special price) Package that includes the C7042, P9303 Power Supply, two C7002 throttles, PLUS one C7036 Lane Changer.
  • If you don’t want to tape the lane switch flaps shut when running analog, reverse the direction of the track. You also need two power supplies to run analog in both lanes.

John Surtees’ iconic red and white paint scheme was applied to his 1970 McLaren M7C and the Scalextric replica is in stock now.

Scalextric C3834A McLaren M7C John Surtees, 1970 Dutch – Limited Edition

No man is ever likely to emulate John Surtees’ feat of winning World Championships on two wheels and four. A racer who would be equally at home in the Halls of Fame of both motorcycle and car racing, ‘Big John’ rarely won the accolades his success deserved. Surtees’ prowess on motorcycles won him universal respect, and soon after trying out cars for Vanwall and Aston Martin in 1959, he switched full-time to cars in 1960. Having driven for Lotus, Ferrari, Honda and BRM, Surtees then set up Team Surtees in 1970. The season didn?t start to well with the first 3 races all ending in retirement, but in round 5 at the Dutch GP held at Zandvoort Surtees got his first point of the season. Surtees had to work hard for the victory after Qualifying 14th, but after some hard work and some luck through others retiring Surtees held on to the final points position.

The Porsche 962 was a sport-prototype racing car created to replace the already successful Porsche 956, in order to allow Porsche to race in the Americans IMSA and WSC Group C competitions. It was one of the most successful racing cars ever and it won several competitions all over the world:

• – World Sport-Prototype Championship in 1985/86
• – 24h Le Mans in 1986/87 and 1994
• – IMSA GTP Championship in 1985/86/87/88
• – 24h Daytona in 1985/86/87, 1989 and 1991
• – 12h Sebring in 1985/86/87/88

The engine was a boxer, 6 cylinders, with two turbos, liquid-cooled, 4 valves per cylinder, double overhead camshaft. On the 3 factory cars entered in the ’24 Hours’ in 1988, displacement had been increased to 3 liters. In those years, cars used ‘long’ shaped tails to have the less possible drag on the ‘Les Hunaudières’ straight. During qualifying, the works 962C reached a maximum speed of 391 kph. This car raced at Le Mans in 1990 in the blue and white livery of sponsor Mizuno and was driven by Louis Krages, Stanley Dickens, Bob Wollek.

PRICE ROLLBACK on select Slot.it Cars

The Swiss Rebellion Racing team engaged two Lola B10/60 at the Le Mans 24 Hours 2010; the number 13 was driven by Nicolas Prost, Neel Jani and Marco Andretti. the Lola B10/60 was created to compete in the LMP1 category, according to the ACO regulations. Lola has built cars for Le Mans since 1999; even the factory MG and Aston Martin cars were designed by the English constructor. In 2008, Lola was the first to offer a Coupe design available to privateer teams. The chassis monocoque and the gearbox housing are made of carbon fiber composite. The suspension is push-rod on both the front and the rear axle, with springs operated via rockers. Gearbox X-track 6 speeds, operated via paddle shift. Brakes have 4 pistons AP Racing calipers and carbon vented rotors. The Lola was powered by a Judd GV 5.5 liter V10 Judd with 4 valves per cylinder and double overhead camshaft. Displacement was 5.5 liters and weight 135 kilograms; the maximum power, with the two air restrictors required by the Rules, is 650 hp at 7000 rpm.

1/32 scale slot car, ready to run on all 1/32 scale non-digital slot car tracks. 1/32 scale slot car. New guide design offers greater strength in the guide mounting and should help prevent broken chassis due to impacts or limit-of-travel stresses on the guide.

The car was designed by Bernard Boyer and Jean-Louis Caussin. The long tail version, designed in ’74 for Le Mans, was still called ‘670 B’, ‘B’ being the distinctive letter of all Matras that were fitted with the Porsche 5-speed gearbox. The chassis was an aluminium monocoque, with fiberglass body.

The engine was a 3-litres V12 at 60°, with aluminium block and head; bore was 79.7 mm and stroke 50.0 mm. Its sound was extremely loud. The version used in ’74 for Le Mans was the ‘MS 73′, with a maximum torque of 320 Nm at 8400 rpm, reaching a maximum power of 450 HP at 10500 rpm. On the Mulsanne straight the car could top 320 kph. Brakes had Girling ventilated discs, all-round; in 1974, the rear brakes were moved inboard. Rims dimensions were 13” x 11” at front and 15” x 15” at rear. The car weighted 693 kg. Slot It SICA35D Alfa Romeo 155 V6 T1 ‘Castrol’ n.26, Nurburgring DTM 1994, driver Carsten Struwe

PRICE ROLLBACK on select Slot.it Cars

The Alfa Romeo 155 V6 TI is a racing car built to race in the DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft) series in 1993. At that time the German Touring Car Championship was the peak of technology for touring car racing, and it reserved for cars of Class 1 (first division or D1). The rules mandated cars with an engine displacement of 2.5 liters and 6 cylinders at most, derived from approved models and produced in no less than 25,000 units. The rules allowed deep changes to the car, provided that the external lines were maintained.
When Alfa Romeo introduced its 420 bhp, four-wheel drive 155, the more conventional rear-wheel drive Mercedes 190 couldn’t matched Alfa’s performance. In 1993, the Italian car dominated the category, winning 12 races out of 20 with its the two factory drivers, thus winning both drivers and constructors titles. To date, the Alfa Romeo 155 is the only non-German car to have won a DTM championship.

This Maserati 250F is likely to be the most desirable of all the Scalextric 60th Anniversary cars because it is (by chance) painted in the official United States of America blue on white racing colors. It is the seventh (of seven) cars in the Limited Edition Scalextric 60th Anniversary series. We found a few of five of the first six (C3827A is sold out) so you can have yours if you order now.

Scalextric C3825A 60th Anniversary Coll. no.7 – 1950s, Maserati 250F Limited Edition

Scalextric 60th Anniversary Collection – 1950s, Maserati 250F Limited Edition

Launched in 1957, Scalextric was the brain child of Bertram ‘Fred’ Francis, the talented inventor behind a range of mechanical tin toys. The first Scalextric cars were tin too and powered by a small electric motor, instead of the more common clockwork cars of the time. This new toy took off and by 1958 Francis had sold his idea to Tri-ang, who looked to invest. Tri-ang produced newer cars in plastic and the range of vehicles offered started to expand.
The very first car released by Scalextric in 1957 was the Maserati 250F, then the car to have in Grand Prix racing with Juan Manuel Fangio scoring his legendary final win in one at the 1957 German Grand Prix. In this race he overcome a 48 second deficit in just 22 laps and broke the lap record 10 times in one race. The very first Scalextric set featured two of these cars and perfectly captured both the glamour and beauty of motor racing cars of the period. The 250F was phased out of F1 racing shortly afterwards, but remains one of the most iconic and beautiful F1 cars of all time, a shining testament to the bravery of the early F1 World Championship competitors.

Scalextric C3826A 60th Anniversary Collection no. 6-1960s, Jaguar E-Type LimitedEd.

Scalextric C3826A 60th Anniversary Collection – 1960s, Jaguar E-type Limited Edition

Despite being debuted in the 1950s, it was the 60s that really saw Scalextric come to prominence as one of the best known toys across the globe. With countless new cars, from the Ferrari 250SWB and Jaguar E-type, right down to Go-Karts and the humble Mini; Scalextric had a car for everyone to race at home. Countless accessory buildings and track pieces were added and the range blossomed, with superstars like the Beatles even having a go! But the celebrity endorsements were not limited to pop stars, Jim Clark, Graham Hill and Various other racing drivers of the era all had their own Scalextric sets.

No other car symbolises the swinging sixties quite like the Jaguar E-type, manufactured by Jaguar Cars Ltd between 1961 and 1975 its combination of beauty, high performance and competitive pricing established the marque as an icon of 1960s motoring. On its release Enzo Ferrari called it “The most beautiful car ever made”, the Lightweight was also very successful on track and in smaller races with Graham Hill and Roy Salvadori seeing the top step of the podium in E-types. In Australia Bob Jane won the 1963 Australian GT Championship in an E-type Lightweight and even today it continues to be a force to be reckoned with in classic GT racing around the world.

Scalextric C3829A 60th Anniversary Collection no.4-1990s, BMW E30 M3 Limited Ed.

Scalextric C3829A 60th Anniversary Collection – 1990s, BMW E30 M3 Limited Edition

As Scalextric moved into the 1990s it followed another shift in motorsport. Throughout the 1980s rallying and Group B had dominated the airwaves and press, but as that declined, touring car racing, most notably Super Touring, took its place. As the BTCC, DTM and other national series gained in popularity, Scalextric began producing these cars.

One manufacturer above others dominated this form of motorsport, BMW. Although production of the BMW M3 E30 started in the ‘80s it saw considerable success in the early ‘90s, winning the BTCC title in 1990 and 1991, along with numerous DTM, Italia Superturismo Championships and Australian races. It also enjoyed considerable success in the rally category.

As the decade moved on, the BMW M3 E30 was to be found racing in lesser series and is even now a common club racing saloon car; as well as being an icon all other performance saloons aspire to. Other new items introduced in the ‘90s by Scalextric were the horse racing sets, as well as various cars driven by the greats of the era: Senna, Schumacher and Hill, all immortalised by Scalextric. With design moving to CAD rather than pattern making and 2D drawing, Scalextric was rapidly accelerating towards the 21st century.

Scalextric C3828A 60th Anniversary no. 3-1980s, Audi Sport quattro S1 E2 Limited Ed.

Scalextric 60th Anniversary Collection – 1980s, Audi Sport quattro S1 E2 Limited Edition

First issued in 1984 the original Scalextric Audi Quattro proved to be as big a hit on the Scalextric tracks of the nation as the original had been screaming through Scandinavian forests. The 1980s saw Scalextric move into ever more inventive areas, with items such as ‘Blowout!’ and Racing Rigs bringing new excitement to the brand. Group B rally cars featured heavily as Ayrton Senna made his Scalextric debut towards the end of the decade in a JPS Lotus, alongside Mansell in a Williams.

The Audi Sport quattro S1 E2 itself was introduced at the end of the 1985 as an update to the Audi Sport quattro; with the car sporting an inline turbo charged 5-cylinder engine. In addition to the improved power output, an aggressive aerodynamic kit was added that featured very distinctive wings and spoilers to the front and rear of the car to increase downforce. The S1 E2 did find some success with Walter Röhrl and Christian Geistdörfer winning the 1985 San Remo Rally, but with the Group B era coming to an end in 1986 after a series of tragic incidents, the quattro was consigned first to the Rallycross tracks, and then the history books.

Scalextric C3831A Anniversary Collection Car No.1 – 2010s, Bentley Continental GT3

As Scalextric entered the second decade of the 21st century it has continued to bring technological advances to the slot racing arena. Following Digital has come ARC; a race management system that allows the user to wirelessly manage all elements of the ‘Scalextric race experience’ using Bluetooth technology via a tablet or smart device. ARC seamlessly merges the excitement of real-time slot racing, with the thrill of on screen gameplay.

The Bentley Continental GT3 is just one of many GT3 race cars now offered by Scalextric. Making its competitive debut at the 2013 Gulf 12 Hours in Abu Dhabi on 13th December 2013, many scoffed that a car the size of the Continental would be successful but it has proved to bean amazing car, powerful and well handling it is still one of the best cars in its class. The Abu Dhabi race would mark Bentleys return to motorsport ten years after its dominant win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2003 and as of now the car continues to win in the Blancpain GT sprint and Endurance series, British GT, GT Cup and on many Scalextric layouts across the world.
