USRA Division 3

Second 1/24 Scale Open-Wheel Race November 25, 2006

Buena Park, CA

Anderson Eats It.

Tore draws a lemon, squashes it.

Report by "Gene Husting", photos by "Al Hall"...

Tore Anderson was none too happy when he drew a slower motor than he would have wished to power his Formula One Cooper-Maserati. The new "handout" format worked fine for most others, with Paul Sterrett setting a blistering 4.025" on the Kingleman track. Anderson actually was given another motor after his first mysteriously burned up, something never seen with any TSRF motor. The second motor was not too swift, but he was able to qualify mid-field and won the "B" race with it. Somehow, the motor was returned a bit flattened at the end of the race, apparently the victim of Thor's Hammer.

Paul Sterrett dominated the "A" race after clearing two laps from a hard-charging Dennis Samson. The race was quite close with the result in doubt until the very end.
